A quick and delicious homemade sweet and sour sauce that’s better than store-bought!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup canned pineapple juice
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup rice vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1.5 tablespoons cornstarch dissolved in water cornstarch slurry: 1.5 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water

Method

  1. Place all ingredients except the cornstarch slurry in a small saucepan and bring to a boil.
  2. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and simmer for another minute until thickened, stirring constantly.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely before serving or storing.
